5-6pm Occupations
When academic or games lessons finish at 5pm, there are various occupations or hobbies that children can choose to do between 5 and 6 p.m. These are optional – children may go home at 5pm, if they wish. Activities range from games and sports hall activities to chess, to pétanque, to model Railway club. There is usually something for everyone. Activities, in both junior occupations time and in the 5-6pm occupations time, vary from term to term and it may be that children choose an occupation one term, and another the next. Occupations for Y3, 4 & 5 on Friday afternoons are compulsory but evening occupations from 5-6pm are optional for day children.
Juniors
There is an additional session for Years 3, 4 & 5 at 3pm on Friday afternoon, when a different set of occupations or hobbies is offered. These are compulsory.
Tennis/Judo/Dance
The school also offers tennis, judo and dance coaching. Forms are sent out at the beginning of each academic year (September) and must returned for the FIRST DAY of the Autumn term if your child wishes to partake; you can opt, at the beginning of any term by writing to or e-mailing the Deputy Head Master, to do these, provided there is room. Parents will be billed at the end of that term. The activities take place in lunch breaks or after-school, and once you have signed up for one of these activities, you must continue to do it for a full term. Half a term’s notice is required if your child wishes to give up the activity. There is a separate session for the Y2 only.
